So often we are faced with situations that seem out of our control.
And it is true, we cannot control what others are doing.
That thought alone can leave us feeling overwhelmed and without power. And I don't know about you, but that's a pretty crappy place to be.
What are you supposed to do as a spiritual person living in this very physical world?
Start with moderation. Ya I know, it seems simple and maybe even a bit silly. But just do a little bit at a time. When we are feeling out of control or unsure, our mind can shift into panic mode. In this space we can't think straight, but somehow tell ourselves that that something drastic has to be done to relieve this energy we are feeling. And yes, something does need to be done. But it's all about baby steps. Putting one foot in front of the other.
Whether your personal life is falling apart or the whole world is panicked, the same simple truth applies. Just do one thing at a time. Practice moderation in your thoughts and actions. It doesn't all have to be solved right now and it doesn't all have to shift in this second. I know it feels like that when you are in the midst of a difficult situation. But it's not sustainable and it's not really helpful.
The first place to start is calming your mind. Sure it may seem like you need to fly off to an ashram and lock yourself away in a silent retreat to regain your sanity. But that's not sustainable. Neither is a 30 minute meditation, even if it is guided, when your thoughts are all over the place. But committing to some breath work is. Try out the Five, this simple technique is a life saver and a game changer.
Once you've calmed yourself down through breathing, you can now have the clear focus to jump into a meditation practice that will serve you. Even if it's just for 10 minutes. If you have 8 minutes try this free daily chakra meditation, it balances your energy, clears your mind and gets you really grounded to face the day or the current difficulty at hand. And what if you only have 5 minutes you ask? Set your phone timer and just breathe in and out.
No matter what the situation, these few tips are sustainable and powerful. You can implement them anytime and anywhere, they can shift your energy around any situation and most importantly, open you up to receive your own soul inspired guidance around the situation at hand.
Remember, when you take small steps and practice moderation, you create a sustainable practice that will serve you now and when you need it.
